George Robert Boswell

George Robert Boswell, of Watkinsville, GA, formerly of Greensboro, GA, died on Saturday, November 23, 2013, at the age of 41. Born in Augusta, GA on November 21, 1972, he was the son of Kay Gentry Boswell of Greensboro, GA and the late Robert Lamar "Cotton" Boswell, Jr. In 1991 he graduated from Nathanael Greene Academy in Siloam, GA, where he lettered in football and track and later received a bachelor''s degree from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. After graduating from college, George was employed by his father, Cotton Boswell, as manager of Cotton''s Corner, a convenience store and restaurant. George married Sherrie Dodd on August 22, 2004. Later George and his brother, Farrett, owned and operated Boswell Logging. He was a member of the Woodville Baptist Church and more recently had been attending Athens Church. He raised beef cows and was past president of the Greene County Cattlemen''s Association.

George had a great personality and enjoyed telling stories and playing practical jokes on his friends. Bird hunting with friends and going to his children''s basketball games was his favorite pastime.

In addition to his mother, Kay Boswell of Greensboro, GA, he is survived by his wife, Sherrie Dodd Boswell, of Watkinsville, GA, his children, Cavin Collins, Mikie Collins, Summer Boswell and Cheyenne Boswell; a brother, Farrett Taylor Boswell and his wife Amy of Watkinsville, GA; nieces and nephews, Victoria Boswell, Rob Boswell, Anna Lynn Boswell, Jeff Thurmond, Cam Thurmond and Oakley Thurmond; an uncle, Jamie Boswell and wife Elizabeth of Athens, GA; a number of other relatives and many, many friends.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 203 S. Main Street, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Michael Hardy, Rev. Rick Hermann and Rev. Farrett Boswell officiating. Interment will follow in the Greensboro City Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Greensboro, GA 30642. Serving as pallbearers are Bobby Lord, Charles Crumbley, Chris Houston, Allen Coleman, Ken Simmons and David Dunagan. Honorary pallbearers will be Edwin Hurt, James Coleman, Grant Coleman, Calvin "Shorty" Gresham, Bruce Hall and Dave Thomas. The family will receive friends Monday night from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at McCommons Funeral Home.
