George Thomas Adams, 74, of Union Point, Georgia, died on Thursday, May 17, 2007 at his residence. Son of the late Zebedee A. Adams and Edna Viola Cheek Adams, he was born on July 4, 1932, in Greene County, Georgia. He graduated from Greensboro High School in 1950 and married Ann Ellison in 1953. George started his working career at the Mary Leila Cotton Mill in Greensboro. He left to serve his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. After serving in the military, he returned to Union Point and began his own business as a dairy and poultry farmer. He enjoyed gardening and raised Koi fish in his pond.
In addition to his wife, Ann Ellison Adams, of nearly fifty-four years, he is survived by three sons, Richard Adams of Greensboro, GA, Stacy Adams and wife Sally of the Liberty Community and Jay Adams and wife Lorine of Greensboro, GA; a sister, Annette Adams Chatfield of Yatesville, GA; four grandchildren, Sherra McFarland, Richard Adams, Zeb Adams and Johnny Adams; four great grandchildren, Ally Adams, Blane McFarland, Loreleigh Adams and Elijah Adams; his companion dog, Fraulein; and a number of other friends and relatives..
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel with Rev. Wayne Usry officiating. Interment will follow in Greenview Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Frank Finch, Ceils Merritt, Jeff Cook, Edward Dingler, Richard Newsom and Dale Brown. Honorary pallbearers are Lowell Harrison, Van Herrin, Jay Lindsey, Bo Bo Marchman, Wayne Sisson, Ricky Lindsey and David Evans. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday night at the funeral home.
