Geneva Myrtis Steele Huff

Geneva Myrtis Steele Huff, age 89, of the Bairdstown Community, died Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Greene Point Health Care and Rehabilitation in Union Point, GA.  Born in Bairdstown on June 23, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Coile Hampton Steele, Sr. and Florence Burkhalter Steele.  She attended school in Bairdstown and then in Woodville.  She married Joel Davis Huff and they lived in Gainesville for twenty-five years, where she helped her husband who was a poultry farmer.  They later lived in Florida and then moved back to Bairdstown.  Geneva was a wonderful mother, grandmother and homemaker who enjoyed fishing, gardening and growing flowers.  Geneva was a member of Bairds Baptist Church in Bairdstown.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joel Davis Huff on August 23, 2009; and siblings, Louise Rhyne, Leroy Steele, Pope Steele and Robert Steele.  She is survived by a son, George David Huff of the Bairdstown Community; a sister, Shirley Steele of Union Point, GA, two brothers, Coile H. Steele, Jr. of Hobe Sound, FL and Joel Steele of the Bairdstown Community; three grandchildren, Kimberly Huff of Charleston, SC, Angela Mohr of Wisconsin and Alan Huff of the Bairdstown Community; one great grandchild, Michael Mohr; a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Bairds Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Glenn Guest officiating.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until time for the service on Tuesday at Callaway Funeral Home.
