Geneva Walls Broughton

Geneva Walls Broughton, age 86, of Siloam, GA died Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at Greene Point Health Care Center in Union Point. She was born in Putnam County on July 17, 1918 to the late Charlie Bartlett Walls, Sr. and Mary Lou Radford Walls. She was a graduate of Greensboro High School and went to Business College in Macon. During her working career she worked for the Jewelry Store in Greensboro, J. B. Dolvin Ford, Greensboro Lumber Company and starting in 1967 she was the Postmistress at the Post Office in Siloam for 22 years. She was a member of Siloam Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Joan Yearwood and husband Bruce of Greensboro, GA; a son, William Broughton and wife Gloria of Greensboro, GA; three grandchildren, Mark Clements of Eatonton, GA, Tracy Culbreth of Carrollton, GA and Tina Yocum of Roeland Park, KS; five great grandchildren, Ronnie Sutton, Mary Sellers, Kaitlyn Bryant, Bailey Clements and Cassidy Culbreth; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emory Cummings Broughton; and two sons, Robert Edward "Bob" Broughton and James Emory "Jim" Broughton.

Graveside Services will be held on Friday, December 24, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Siloam Cemetery with Rev. James Bowen officiating. Serving as pallbearers are William Coleman, Keith James, Terry O''Neal, Edward "Redtop" Clements, Kenneth "Cotton" McKinley and Robby Chapman. The family requests that any memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 1684 Barnett Shoals Road, Athens, GA 30605.
