Gene Raymond O'Kelley

Gene Raymond O’Kelley, age 75, of Greensboro, GA died Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens. Born on November 20, 1937 in Atlanta, Georgia at Crawford W. Long Hospital, he was the son of the late Roy Dean O’Kelley and Mary Ellen Jackson Livingston. In 1955 he graduated from Hapeville High School. He married Janice Kelly on November 21, 1978. He was a successful entrepreneur who started working in high school at the C & S Bank, then Delta Airlines in the late fifties and early sixties. He sold real estate and owned a one hour martinizing dry cleaning business. In 1974 he opened a rental store which became All Seasons Rental. This business continues to be family owned and is now operated by the third generation. Gene was an active member of Walker United Methodist Church of Greensboro, where he was the chair person for the Evangelism Committee. He enjoyed being with the men’s group at church and playing golf. Gene had lived in Rockdale County from 1972 until 1997, where he was past president of Atlanta Metro Rental Association, past president of Rockdale County Chamber of Commerce and a member of Rockdale County Rotary. Then he moved to Greene County in 1997 where he lived with his wife, Janice until his passing. In addition to his wife, Janice Kelly O’Kelley of Greensboro, GA, he is survived by his children, Gene (Jennifer) O’Kelley of Conyers, GA, Mark O’Kelley of Covington, GA, James (Jana) O’Kelley of Monroe, GA, Chris O’Kelley of Hickory Creek, TX, Monica (Michael) Graves of Golden, CO, Jackie (Herb) Vadney of Monroe, GA and Jennifer (Dale) George of Conyers, GA; sister, Mary Dean (Thad) Joiner; brother, Thomas (Patti) Hunter; nine grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Memorial Services will be held Friday, November 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Walker United Methodist Church, 2730 Walker Church Road, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. John Pike officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday at McCommons Funeral Home.
