Gawain Elliott Obituary

Gawain Elliott, age 89, of Greensboro, GA, died Thursday, March 17, 2005 at Minnie G. Boswell Memorial Hospital. Born in Grundy County, Missouri on January 2, 1916, he was the son of the late Raymond D. Elliott and Etta Mikesell Elliott. For 33 years he worked at Quaker Oats in Cedar Rapids, Iowa as a service elevator operator and retired in 1976. Most of his life he resided in Palo, Iowa and moved to Georgia in 2001 after the death of his wife, Josephine Terbl Elliott. He was a member of the Church of the Open Bible in Cedar Rapids.

Mr. Elliott is survived by a son, Gawain E. Elliott, Sr. and wife Sharon of Greensboro, GA; a sister, Hannah Holden of Akron, CO; two grandchildren, Chip Elliott of Social Circle, GA and Karla Hutchins of Madison, GA; a great grandson, Billy Hutchins of Madison, GA; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Wilda Gabriel and Nadine Armstrong; and two brothers, Rex Elliott and James Elliott.

Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at Turner Chapel West, 1221 First Avenue West, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Inurnmet will be at Czech National Cemetery.
