Gary Nelson, life-long adventurer of roads less traveled, peacefully ended his journey on May 26, 2009. He was 73. A Nebraska native, he had lived in Georgia from 1972 to the date of his passing.
A former race car driver on the dirt tracks of northeast Nebraska Gary was a passionate fan who attended over 30 Indianapolis 500''s. He was also a serious motorcycle enthusiast who, in 1993, was the first person from Georgia to complete the USA Four Corners Motorcycle Tour, a trip that required the rider to complete a tour to the four corners of the continental United States in a twenty-one day period.
Gary Nelson was preceded in death by his first wife Marian and their son Kevin. Survivors include his wife Anne, sons Dana and Danny, brother in law Kenneth Sunderman, numerous nieces and nephews and one grandchild, Cooper.
Services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 30 at the Lake Oconee Lutheran Church. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
