Frederick Hermann Spoehrer of Greensboro, GA, died Monday, June 9, 2014 at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital. He was 79. Born in Saint Louis, MO on August 7, 1934 he was the son of the late Hermann Frederick Spoehrer and Harriet Louise Baur Spoehrer. He grew up in Saint Louis graduating from Clayton High School and attended the University of Missouri. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. Fred worked as a salesman for Sporlan Valve Company for a number of years. More than twenty years ago he moved from Sarasota, Florida to Lake Oconee in Greene County. While in Sarasota he was a member of The Elk’s Club. He had a lifelong passion for cars, especially Corvettes.
He is survived by his best friend and partner of twenty-five years, Bernice “Bee” Wells of Greensboro, GA, his daughter, Laurie (Ray) Van de Riet of Saint Louis, MO, his sister, Jane (Robert) Spoehrer Tschudy of Saint Louis, MO; three grandchildren, Eric, Alex and Rachel all of Saint Louis, MO; relatives and friends.
Memorial Services will be held Monday, June 16, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel with Rev. Bert Mathews officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until time for the service at McCommons Funeral Home.
