Frances Finch Obituary

Frances Arthur Finch, 88, affectionately known as "Nana", of Greensboro, GA died Friday, June 4, 2004 at Greene Point Health Care Center in Union Point. One of six children she was born in Fairplay, Georgia on July 16, 1915 to the late Clarence Royston Arthur and Carrie Bell Connally Arthur. At two years old her family moved to Woodville and when she was nine they moved back to Morgan County where she graduated from Madison High School in 1931. After graduating, she lived in Union Point and taught Sunday School at the First Baptist Church of Union Point. She married James Edward Finch Sr. on July 15, 1939 and joined the First Baptist Church of Greensboro in 1940. They moved their family to South Street in Greensboro in 1945. Later she was treasurer of the Fidellis Sunday School Class at the First Baptist Church in Greensboro for many years. During her working career, she was a knitter at Chipman Union, sold tickets and concessions at Greenland Theater and was a clerk for Goldstein''s 5 & 10, West''s Department Store, Greensboro Cloth Shop and Marrett''s.

She was preceded in death by her husband James Edward Finch Sr. in December of 1992; two sisters, Eulilia Campbell and Ruby Mosley; and three brothers, William Arthur, Hoyt Arthur and Leslie Arthur. She is survived by a son, James Edward "Jimmy" Finch, Jr. and wife Margaret of Union Point, GA; and a daughter, Jeannette F. Finch and husband Jack of Jefferson, GA; six grandchildren, Chuck Finch, Beth Finch, Sarah Finch, Sam Finch, Sheila F. Crim and Stacy F. Williamson; six great grandchildren, Maggie Finch, Brittany Finch, Elizabeth Crim, Audrey Finch, Clayton Williamson and James Williamson.

Graveside Services will be held on Sunday, June 6, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. at Greensboro City Cemetery with Rev. Sam Orr officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Billy Arthur, Edward Arthur, Phillip Arthur, Ken Arthur and A. F. Mosley. The family requests that any memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Greensboro, Fidellis Sunday School Class, c/o Mrs. Hilda Moore, 902 Spring Street, Greensboro, Georgia 30642.
