Fain Allen Eaton, Sr., age 86, of Greensboro, Georgia, died Sunday, October 29, 2006 at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. He was born April 22, 1920 in Gordon County, Georgia to the late James Heard Eaton and Jessie Dodd Eaton. He graduated from Sparta High School. After high school he joined the United States Coast Guard and served his country during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He ran the Gulf Service Station and Standard Oil Company in Greensboro. Most of his working career he sold insurance with Gulf Life and retired in 1986. Fain was a loyal member of the First Baptist Church of Greensboro. He served on numerous committees, taught Sunday School for years and most recently was a member of Agape Sunday School Class where he was the teacher. He was a member of the Golden Tones and the San Marino Lodge #34 where he served as the past Worshipful Master. Fain enjoyed caning and gardening and spent much of his time helping others.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Greene Eaton, in June of 1994; and brothers, Charles W. Eaton, Jack Eaton, Harold Eaton and Horace Eaton. He is survived by a son, Fain Allen Eaton, Jr. and wife Rhonda of White Plains, GA; two daughters, Cathy E. Welch and husband Ernie of Monroe, GA and Becky E. Mitchell and husband David of Juliette, GA; two sisters, Mabel E. Leach of Greensboro, GA and Elizabeth E. Moore of Greensboro, GA; three grandchildren, Jessica Lashley of Albany, GA, Kim Jones and husband Jimmy of Albany, GA and Cynthia Cunningham and husband Chad of Villa Rica, GA; three great grandchildren, India Lashley, Emily Lashley and Jamie Jones; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Greensboro with Rev. Michael Hardy and Rev. Dr. Norman Waldrip officiating. Interment will be at Greenview Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Jimmy Moore, Kenneth Moore, Ricky Moore, Tom Leach, Ennis Eaton, Zack Moore and Chris Leach. Honorary pallbearers are the members of San Marino Lodge #34. The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church Tuesday, from 1:00 p.m. until time for the service.
