Eural Joseph “EJ” Authement, Jr., age 49, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2015 in Buckhead, Georgia. Eural was born in Houma, Louisiana on June 17, 1965 to Eural Joseph Authement, Sr. and the late Norma Collins Authement.

He held a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Southwestern Louisiana. He earned a successful career with Juniper Networks as Sr. Systems Engineer. Eural resided in Atlanta and Buckhead prior to making Lake Oconee his permanent home in 2012 with his spouse, John Joseph Leach, whom he married on March 5, 2014. He was a member of Lake Oconee Community Church in Greensboro. His many interests included gardening, cooking, boating, crabbing, shrimping, listening/dancing to country music and spending quality time with family and friends.

In addition to his mother, Norma Collins Authement, he was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents. Eural is survived by his spouse, John Joseph Leach of Buckhead, GA; father, Eural Joseph Authement, Sr.(Shirley); siblings, Craig Authement (Della), Julie Hornsby (Lonnie), Dion Authement and Tina Lyons (Kenneth); nieces and nephews, Lance Authement, Damon Authement, Lonnie Hornsby, Jr., Stevie Hornsby, Scottie Hornsby, Hailey Authement, Kristen Gentry, Ashlee Pellegrin, Nicholas Lyons and Myles Lyons; and sixteen great nieces and nephews. He touched the hearts of many and will be greatly missed by everyone who loved him.

Eural will be taken back to his hometown of Chauvin, Louisiana for a funeral service on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 5232 Highway 56, Chauvin, LA 70344. A wake will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with the service to commence at 11 a.m.

In addition, a local memorial service for Eural will be held at the Reynolds Plantation Pointe Pavilion on Friday, June 26, 2015 at 6 p.m. Casual attire is requested for this celebration of Eural’s life.
