Ethel Lee Lord, age 88 of Watkinsville, Georgia died Thursday, May 2, 2013 at A. G. Rhodes Health and Rehab Wesley Woods in Atlanta, Georgia. Ethel was born in Union Point, Georgia on February 6, 1925 to the late John Calvin Arnold and Katie Cook Arnold. She graduated from Union Point High School. For over twenty years she was the office manager for Chastain Office Products in Athens, GA retiring in 2000 at the age of 75. As long as health permitted, Ethel was an active member of Bethabara Baptist Church in Statham, GA where she sang in the choir and enjoyed working with the children. Her favorite past time was working in her yard, especially growing irises.
Ethel was predeceased by her parents, John Calvin and Katie Cook Arnold; and two brothers John Dewitt Arnold, Sr. and Cecil Arnold. She is survived by her daughter Leeann Bauch and husband David of Lawrenceville, GA; a son, Dr. Billy Copelan, Jr. and wife Lynn of Greensboro, GA; four grandchildren, Lucas Bauch of Lawrenceville, GA, Billy Copelan, III and wife Christie of St. Simons, GA, Callie Copelan Luskas and husband Joe of Dacula, GA and Mary Jo Copelan Nugent and husband Penn of Raleigh, NC; eight great grandchildren, Carrie and Kendall Copelan, Mallory, Noah and Sarah Luskas and Harrison, Logan and Ansley Nugent; and a number of other relatives and many friends.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery, Rhodes Street, Union Point, Georgia 30669 with Dr. Jay Hodges officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Wayne Bauch, Jessie Copelan, Ray Copelan, Bruce Copelan, Wynn Copelan and Jackie Copelan. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at McCommons Funeral Home.
