Esther Edwards Obituary

Esther Lena Webb Edwards, 83, of the Veazey Community in Greene County died Saturday, May 1, 2004 at her residence. Born March 4, 1921 in Greene County, she was the daughter of the late Preston Calvin Webb and Ethel Drake Webb. In 1938 she graduated from Greensboro High School where she was captain of the basketball team. After graduating, she moved to Atlanta to attend business school and worked in administration at Sears Roebuck & Company. She later married Robert Neil "Toby" Edwards and they moved to the Chamblee area to start a family. Around 1968 their family moved back to the Veazey Community. She was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Neil "Toby" Edwards in May of 1972 and a son Cary Rorke Edwards in April of 1970. She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Edwards Wolski of Atlanta, GA; two sons, Ashley Edwards and wife Linda of Greensboro, GA and Robby Edwards of the Veazey Community; a sister, Dorothy Smith of the Veazey Community; a brother Ernest Webb of Macon, GA; two grandchildren, Matthew Wolski of Atlanta, GA and Mary Ellen Edwards of Athens, GA; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at 4:00 p.m. at Liberty United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Nicholas officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Matt Wolski, Bill Wolski, Johnny Webb, Roger Webb, Doug Webb, Joe Gene Hayes, Lindsey Levie, Lester Moon and Keith Boyd. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday night at the Funeral Home. The family requests that any memorials be made to Liberty United Methodist Church, 2491 Shiloh Road, Greensboro, GA 30642 or to the trust fund for Robert Preston Edwards, c/o BankSouth, 200 N.
