Estelle Pullian Thurmond, age 84, of Greensboro, Georgia died Sunday, November 2, 2003 at St. Mary''s Hospital. Born in Wilkes County on September 16, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Seaborn Luther Pullian and Lucy Ann Cape Pullian. She was a graduate of Hephzibah High School and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greensboro. As a homemaker, she was known for her cake baking, quilting and sewing. She was a member of the Meadowcrest Home Demonstration Club and Women of the Church. She worked with meals on wheels and helped at Duvall Livestock Barn for thirty-six years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gillard McHenry "Dick" Thurmond, in December of 2000. She is survived by three daughters, Cheri Moore and husband Jimmy of Forest Park, GA, Debbie Donald and husband Tony of Loganville, GA and Sandra Lanier and husband Allen of Lincolnton, GA; a son, Ronald Thurmond and wife Katie of Madison, GA; a brother, Early Pullian of Roswell, GA; six grandchildren, Troy Lanier, Ron Thurmond, Leigh Moore, Don Moore, Holly Thurmond and J. T. Donald; seven great-grandchildren, Cody Thurmond, Luke Thurmond, Hannah Thurmond, Victoria Garrett, Logan Moore, Hayden Moore and Sam Lanier.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 5, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Greensboro with Rev. Dr. Ford G''Segner officiating. Burial will follow at Greensboro City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Troy Lanier, Ron Thurmond, Don Moore, J. T. Donald, Jimmy Thurmond and Johnny Lewis. The family requests that any memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 26, Greensboro, Georgia 30642. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday night at the Funeral Home. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W. Broad St., Greensboro, GA, (706) 453-2626, is in charge of arrangements.
