Equilla Thompson Obituary

Equilla Lovell Thompson, age 87, of Penfield, GA, died Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Peachtree Christian Hospice in Duluth, GA. Born in Bellton, GA in Hall County on May 24, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Virgil Dalton Lovell and Hattie Angelina Taylor Lovell. She graduated from Tignall High School in Wilkes County and went to work as a Bundler for Union Manufacturing in Union Point, which later became Chipman Union Hosiery. On January 3, 1968 she married James Russell Thompson and moved to Penfield. Mrs. Thompson was a member of Penfield Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Russell Thompson in October of 2006; and siblings, Fred Lovell, Roy Lovell, Willie Wates Lovell, Myris Lovell, Crawford Lovell, Willie Jean Lovell, Savilla Lovell, Priscilla Lovell and Eurilla Lovell Whitner. She is survived by a sister, Jessie Malinda Brungard of Warner Robins, GA; sixteen nieces and nephews, twenty-five great nieces and nephews and twenty great, great nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, Mar 2, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Penfield Baptist Church with the Rev. David Jordan officiating. Interment will follow in the Penfield Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Fred Lovell, Mark Higdon, Sam Patrick, Joshua Waters, Aren Waters and Daniel Waters. Honorary pallbearers will be Curtis Whitaker, Jimmy Burt, John Colclough and William Poole. The family requests that any memorials be made to Penfield Baptist Church, c/o Curtis Whitaker, 3881 Nichols Road, Union Point, GA 30669 or Peachtree Christian Hospice, 3430 Duluth Park Lane, Duluth, GA 30096. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at McCommons Funeral Home. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
