Emerson Troy “Bud” Bramlett, age 85, of Siloam, GA, died Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Athens Regional Medical Center. He was born in Jackson County, Georgia on June 26, 1924 the son of the late Ervin Arthur Bramlett and Judy Town Bramlett. When he was two years old, his family moved to Taliaferro County where he attended Alexander Stephens Institute and later moved to Greene County where he attended school in Siloam. He married Josephine Wagnon on January 10, 1966. Mr. Bramlett was a U S Army veteran of World War II receiving a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star Medal and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. His last job was with the Chair Back Company in Washington, Georgia. Bud was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church. He and his wife, Josephine, thoroughly enjoyed camping and traveling.
Mr. Bramlett was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Lee Bramlett in February of 1956; a son, Charles Wagnon; and a sister, Bertha Clements. He is survived by his wife, Josephine Wagnon Bramlett of Siloam, GA; a daughter Lynda Benefield of Augusta, GA; a sister, Jeanelle “Monk” Byrd of Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren, Scott (Michelle) Benefield, Michael (Jessica) Turner, Guy Turner, Cole Willard and Brittany Willard; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. at the Callaway Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Reggie Haslett officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA. Serving as pallbearers are James Taylor, Herbert Rhodes, Steve Thornton, Steve Strozier, Tim Taylor and Scottie Benefield.
