Elsie Kathleen King Smith

Elsie Kathleen King Smith, age 93, of Union Point, Georgia, died on Monday, December 10, 2007 at Minnie G. Boswell Memorial Hospital. A lifelong resident of Greene County, Elsie was born on September 2, 1914 to the late John Edward King and Susie Anna Culver King. She attended a one room school house in White Plains. She was a homemaker and member of Bethesda Baptist Church of Union Point.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Linton Smith in February of 1987; two sons, Jimmy Smith and Larry Smith; and siblings, Byron King, Edgar King, Zena Humphrey, Eva King Mann and Mary Will King. She is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Elizabeth Rhodes and husband Ray of Crawfordville, GA and Mary Anna S. Ferguson of Athens, GA; two daughters-in-law, Jane Smith of Greensboro, GA and Nancy Smith of Union Point, GA; four sons, Ronald J. Smith and wife Sheila of Monroe, GA, Billy H. Smith and wife Jackie of Union Point, GA, Mike Smith and wife Kay of Union Point, GA and Tony Smith and wife Chris of Statham, GA; twenty grandchildren, Crystal Carter, Wesley Smith, Debbie Underwood, Teri Gunter, Jeffrey Smith, Mark Smith, Todd Smith, Lisa Dean, Cindy Campbell, Brian Smith, Ray Rhodes, Jr., Tammy Popham, Amy Cox, Robin Doolittle, Christy Bennett, Andrew Rhodes, Matt Smith, Laurie Harris, Chuck Smith and Shannon Gasaway; twenty-three great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethesda Baptist Church in Union Point with the Rev. Jim Olds and Rev. Ray Rhodes, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Wisteria Cemetery in Union Point. Serving as pallbearers are Grandsons: Matt Smith, Mark Smith, Brian Smith, Chuck Smith, Todd Smith, Eric Underwood, Andrew Rhodes, Wesley Smith and Jeffrey Smith. The family requests that any memorials be made to Bethesda Baptist Church, 1560 Bethesda Church Road, Union Point, GA 30669.
