Elisabeth Hobbs Adams

Elisabeth Hobbs Adams, age 88, of Greensboro, GA, died Monday, January 23, 2006 at Minnie G. Boswell Memorial Hospital. Born in McDuffie County, GA on August 18, 1917, she was the daughter of the late William Edward Hobbs and Elizabeth Petulah McManus Hobbs. She graduated from Thomson High School and Brenau College in Gainesville. She was a school teacher in the Public School System and taught for awhile in Greene County. She was a faithful member of The First Baptist Church of Greensboro and the Fidelis Sunday School Class until declining health prevented her attendance. She taught in the Primary Department for over fifteen years. Mrs. Adams was a charter member of the Greensboro Garden Club, a past member of the Greensboro Woman''s Club, a member of the United Daughter''s of the Confederacy, a former member of the Greene County Country Club, the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation and the Greene County Historical Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Gaillard "Gilly" Adams Sr. in May of 1991. She is survived by a daughter, Pet Williams and husband Wayne of Crawfordville, GA; two sons, William E. "Bill" Adams of Greensboro, GA and Edwin Gaillard "Gilly" Adams Jr. of Union Point, GA; a brother, Jack Hobbs of Smyrna, GA; four grandchildren, Lanis Adams, Mary Adams, Elisabeth Reddick and husband Daniel and Ginny Hudson; one great grandchild, Mason Reddick; and a number of other relatives and friends. A  Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Greensboro with Rev. Michael Hardy, Rev. Dave Sandridge and Rev. Martha Mercure officiating. Interment will follow at Greensboro City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Farrett Boswell, George Boswell, Jimmy Baynes, Scott Baynes, Joel McRay, Lee Parker, Noel Mayeske and Mark Mayeske. Honorary pallbearers are members of First Baptist Church Fidelis Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday night at the family''s home.
