Eleanor Rose Kirk Ruark

Eleanor Rose Kirk Ruark, 90, of Woodville, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at her daughter’s home in Tallahassee, Florida.  She was born in Athens, Georgia on June 25, 1924, to the late Elwood Kirk, Sr and Zora Mae Lavonia Williams.  She grew up in Georgia and was a graduate of Athens High School in 1942.  Eleanor married Rexford Griffith Ruark on October 23, 1944 and raised a family of two daughters and a son while living in Woodville, Georgia.  In the early fifties, Eleanor began working at The Farmer’s Bank in Union Point, Georgia.  Later, she transferred to the branch in Greensboro where she was Vice-President.  She also worked as a secretary for the Board of Education in Greensboro. Eleanor was an avid supporter of The University of Georgia bulldogs.  In 1992, Eleanor married Lee Schilt and moved to St. Louis, Missouri.  They moved back to Greensboro, Georgia in 2005. Lee passed September 1, 2014.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her first husband, Rexford Griffith Ruark; her parents; two brothers, Elwood Kirk, Jr. and Robert Kirk; two sisters, Helen Kirk Bryant and Sarah Kirk Culberson; and a great granddaughter, Kate Cherrington Conway.  She is survived by two daughters, Helen Elaine Ruark Sirmans (C.F.) and  Elinor Karen Ruark Lunt (Roger) and a son, Stanley Alexander Ruark.  She is also survived by ten grandchildren; Lorelei Ruark, Sally, Andy, Eleanor Tice, Fiel, Alex, Rexford, Lane, Amanda Ruark and Amelia Rose, and twenty-five great grandchildren; Christian Rexford, Jacob, Kelly, Caroline, Laurel, Kylie, Emme, Jackson, Kirk, Clee, Ellie, Andrew, Tycen, Warner, Rylee, Kalil Ruark, Stephen, Rexford, TJ, Mason, Ayla Rose, Eileen, Lola, Pace and Kate.

A Memorial Service and Celebration of her Life was held at the Woodville Baptist Church.  She was buried in the family plot in the Woodville cemetery. Callaway Funeral Home, 208 N.
