Eldred Powell Moon

Eldred Powell Moon, 71, of Union Point, Georgia died Sunday, August 24, 2008 at Athens Regional Medical Center. Born March 13, 1937 in Oconee County, she was the daughter of the late James Arnie Powell and Thelma Ray Harper Powell. As a child she attended Meadowcrest School and Greensboro High School. She worked as a seamstress at Chipman Union in Union Point and was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah''s Witnesses.

Eldred was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Moon, in 1999; and siblings, Claude Lee Powell, Ida Juanita Hinton, James "Red" N. Powell and Hollis Elder Powell. She is survived by a daughter, Judy Moon Alford and husband Donny of Cochran, GA; two sisters, Maizell Merritt of Greensboro, GA and Ann Cassidy of Brunswick, GA; two brothers, Delmus Powell of Greensboro, GA and Lamar Powell of Siloam, GA; two grandsons, Michael Canup and wife Jamee of Milledgeville, GA and Johnny Ray Canup, Jr. and wife Rebekah of Lexington, GA; a great grandson, Hunter Canup; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Walker Church Cemetery with H. Leon Gentry officiating.
