Edward Lee "Buster" Martin, age 84, of Woodville, GA passed away on Friday, July 26, 2019 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Buster was born March 25, 1935 in Lincolnton, GA to the late Joshua Hill Martin and Mable Harbuck Martin. Buster graduated from Lincolnton High School. After graduation, he entered into the United States Air Force where he proudly served his country for twenty-one years receiving an honorable discharge in December of 1974. On August 26, 1954 he married the former Joann Godbee from Union Point, GA. After moving back to Greene County he worked at Godbee’s Country Store in Siloam, GA and later he was the owner and operator of M & G Amoco Food Mart in Union Point, GA retiring in 2000. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed all sports, especially football including the Georgia Bulldogs and the Lincoln County Red Devils. He also enjoyed camping. Most of all he loved his family and spending time with friends. Buster was a member of Wesley Chapel Wesleyan Church.
In addition to his wife of nearly sixty-five years, Joann Martin of Woodville, GA, Buster is survived by his daughters, Leigh Martin and Tyra Martin both of Woodville, GA; son, Josh Martin (Benita) of Vidor, TX; brother, John Martin; two sisters, Bessie Thomas and Shirley Brown; eleven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Keith Martin and brother, Danny Martin.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Wesley Chapel Wesleyan Church, 2830 Highway 15 South, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Tim Tabler officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the church.
