Edward Morris Farmer, age 77, of Greensboro, Georgia, died Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at Minnie G. Boswell Memorial Hospital. A native of DeKalb County, GA, he was born October 22, 1926 to the late John Ira Farmer and Mary Hudgins Farmer Allgood. After graduating from Tucker High School in 1943, he joined the United States Navy. At age 17 he served on the USS Hornet during World War II. He was injured while in battle and received a purple heart. He was a maintenance mechanic in the engineering department at Frito Lay and after retirement was self employed as a painter and decorator. He was an avid gardener with a green thumb and loved flowers. He was a member of the Walker United Methodist Church in Greensboro, GA where he had lived for more than nine years. A  He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Manus Farmer of Greensboro, GA; a daughter, Becky Farmer Tollison and husband Jerry of Grayson, GA; a son, Eddie Farmer of Greensboro, GA; four grandchildren, David Farmer, Matt Tollison, Angela Tollison and Adam Tollison; and a number of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Farmer and Allen Farmer. A  Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 12, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Walker United Methodist Church in Greensboro, GA with Rev. Ferris Hardin and Rev. Clyde Smith officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Tucker, GA. Serving as pallbearers are Adam Tollison, Matt Tollison, Phil Farmer, Larry Manus, Stacy Manus and Josh Manus. Flowers will be accepted or any memorials may be made to the Walker United Methodist Church, 2730 Walker Church Road, Greensboro, GA 30642. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday night at the funeral home. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W. Broad St., Greensboro, GA, (706) 453-2626, is in charge of arrangements.
