Edgar Reid Boswell, Jr., age 85, of Greensboro, GA, died Thursday, May 25, 2006 at Georgia War Veterans Home in Milledgeville. Born on January 26, 1921 in Fulton County, he was the son of the late Edgar Reid Boswell, Sr. and Edna Callaway Boswell. He graduated from Greensboro High School and later from Presbyterian College in South Carolina. During World War II, he served in the 3rd Army under General Patton from 1942 until 1946. Most of his life he worked as a salesman in the Textile Industry along with his cousin, W. R. "Billy" Callaway and for a while was in the construction business. E.R. was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Greensboro and the Agape Sunday School Class.
He is survived by his daughter Marie Boswell Baker and husband Ron of Springhill, FL; a son, Bratcher Reid Boswell and wife Tammy of Madison, GA; three grandchildren, Brooke Rene Boswell, Courtney Marie Boswell and Jessie Boswell Baker; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie Marie Sellers Boswell in 1990 and siblings, Edna "Sis" Boswell Dunn, Lila Boswell Hall, William Reid "Bill" Boswell and Robert Lamar "Cotton" Boswell, Sr.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, May 28, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Greensboro with Rev. Dr. Norman Waldrip and Rev. Farrett Boswell officiating. Interment will follow in Greenview Cemetery with military honors. Serving as pallbearers are Ray Sellers, George Cannon, Jimmy Parrish, Mike Lynn, Frank Busbin, Lamar Callaway, Thom McGibony and Rick Ward. The family requests that any memorials be made to the First Baptist Church, 203 S. Main Street, Greensboro, GA 30642.
