Douglas Cannon Obituary

Truman Douglas “Doug” Cannon died on Friday, February 1, 2013, at the age of 51 at Athens Regional Medical Center. He was born in Forest Park, Georgia on March 6, 1961 to the late Truman David Cannon, Jr. and Hazel Lee Herrington Cannon. He attended Greene County High School. Doug was a heavy equipment operator and over the years, he worked for Webb Brothers Logging, Joe Parker Construction and at one time operated Cannon Grading. At the time of his death, he was working for Plains Logging. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Greshamville. He was an avid team roper of the Wrayswood/Greshamville Community, a member of USTRC, the North GA Roping Club, loved horses and enjoyed helping at the local rodeos. Doug is survived by his son, Phillip Cannon of Greensboro, GA; a brother, George “Corky” Cannon and wife Marsha of the Greshamville Community; a number of nieces, nephews; and many friends. In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by a brother, Terry Wesley Cannon. Funeral Services will be held Monday, February 4, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, 1400 Farmington Road, Madison, GA 30650 with Rev. Mike Pritchett officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Charles Crumbley, Reid Ballard, Jim Thurmond, Tim Duvall, Doug Higdon and Chris Minor. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at McCommons Funeral Home. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
