Dorothy Lee Walker

Dorothy Lee “Dot” Walker, age 66, of Greensboro, Georgia, died Saturday, December 11, 2010 at Landmark Hospital of Athens. Born on September 24, 1944 in Anderson, South Carolina, she spent most of her life in Greene County. She was the daughter of the late Reedy L. Walker and Emma Lou Myers Walker. She grew up and attended school at Jackson County High School and moved to Greene County in 1956. She began her career working at Mary Leila Cotton Mill in Greensboro as a spinner and later as a cook at Lord’s Galaxy in Union Point. Dot was a member of the Union Point Worship Center for nineteen years where she taught Sunday School. She enjoyed her church, watching the Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs, fishing and working with the kids at church and school. She is survived by two sisters, Myrna Long and husband Wayne of Greensboro, GA and Linda Thurmond of Crawford, GA; a brother, Jimmy Walker and wife Faye of Crawford, GA; numerous nieces and nephews, Stevie Phillips and wife Wendy of Winder, GA, Terry Phillips and wife Susan of Commerce, GA, Jeff Moody and wife Terri of Jefferson, GA, Connie Phillips of Jefferson, GA, Mike Moody and wife Patti of Watkinsville, GA, Randy Walker and wife Jennifer of West Virginia, Paige Hubbard and husband Brian of Union Point, GA, Cindy Cueny and husband John of Romulus, MI, Teresa Arwood of Greensboro, GA, Candy Arwood of Greensboro, GA; two great nephews, Justin and Phillip Hubbard of Union Point, GA; great niece, Destiny Arwood of Greensboro, GA; numerous other great nieces and great nephews; and several great, great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Annette Phillips; a brother, R. L. Walker; and a nephew, Ed Moody. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Union Point Worship Center, 208 Lamb Avenue, Union Point, GA 30669 with Rev. Dennis Mitchell and Rev. Johnny Barrett officiating. Interment services will follow in Greenview Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Greensboro, GA 30642. Serving as pallbearers are Mike Moody, Jeff Moody, Stevie Phillips, Terry Phillips, Dusty Black and Ricky Duvall. Honorary pallbearers are Jeff Eley, Trenton Godbee, Jason Godbee, Justin Epps, Pete Lankford, John Herrington, Michael Adriance and Mike Hall.
