Dorothy Hautman Obituary

Dorothy West Hautman, 87, of Union Point, Georgia passed away on December 31, 2006, following a brief illness. Born in Union Point, GA on April 26, 1919 as Dorothy Mildred West, she was the daughter of the late Hewell Henry West and Evelyn Charles West. In 1936 she graduated from Greensboro High School. At Minnie G. Boswell Memorial Hospital she worked in the business office and at The Farmers Bank she worked in the Insurance Department. She devoted her life to her family raising her children in a loving Christian home. Besides being a wife, mother, the world''s greatest grandmother and great-grandmother, she was a Christian woman. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Union Point where she taught Sunday school for 40 years, was a WMU leader and along with her husband, Jack, taught in BTU. She was a member of the Happy Hearts Club, Union Point Bridge Club, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Historical Society, an active member of the Garden Club and was active in other civic programs in Greene County. She spent her last years residing at Willow Run Retirement Home in Greensboro.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Wesley "Jack" Hautman in 1982 and a great granddaughter, Jolee Bryan. She is survived by daughters, Jill Rhodes and husband Lanier of Union Point, GA, Connie Murray and husband Marty of Lilburn, GA and Angela Winslette and husband Keith of Rome, GA; 8 grandchildren, Kim R. Ham, Trey Rhodes, John Rhodes, Amanda Bryan, Chase Murray, Jack Murray, Brett Winslette and Brooke Winslette; 11 great-grandchildren, Trey Ham, Riley Jill Ham, Jack Ham, Rhodes Ham, Olivia Grace Rhodes, Hallie Beth Rhodes, Jeffrey Bryan, Sydney June Bryan, Weston Lee Bryan, Bo Winslette, Chip Winslette; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Union Point with Rev. Leonard Ezell officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers are Trey Rhodes, John Rhodes, Terry Ham, Brett Winslette, Chase Murray, Jack Murray and Jeff Bryan. Honorary pallbearers are W. H. Rhodes Jr., Ricky Newsom, Richard Newsom, Dee Lindsey, Henry Sisson, Milton Meadows, Mark Higdon, Ronnie Finch, Tommy Swann, Ken Rowland, Paul Jackson, Elliott Lindsey and Gene Lindsey. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night at the Funeral Home.
