Dorothy Garner Mills Calhoun

Dorothy Garner Mills "Dotsie" Calhoun, age 95, of Greensboro, GA, died Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Saint Joseph''s At East Georgia in Greensboro. Mrs. Calhoun was born August 26, 1915 in Sparta, GA to the late Sam Garner and Mary Lou Boyer Garner. She was a graduate of Faceville High School. For several years she worked in Atlanta and then began a career at Rich''s for twenty-two years retiring as manager of accounts receivable. Later she was head bookkeeper for Planned Community Services, Inc, where she worked for twelve years. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, reading, playing bridge and watching her soap operas.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank Sharp Mills in 1956 and her second husband, Mack W. Calhoun in 1981; a son, Franklin Mills; siblings, Sam Garner, Margarite Garner and Louise Garner. She is survived by a son, Jere G. Mills and wife Bebe of Greensboro, GA; a daughter-in-law, Adora Mills Powers of Greensboro, GA; a sister, Madaline Corry of Pylesville, MD; a brother, C. Greene Garner and wife Peggy of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Michael E. Mills, Mitchell L. Mills, Rosemary Haley and husband Jason, Kelley Galvin, Courtney Anglin and husband Andy; great grandchildren, Matthew Alexander Mills, Julian Christopher Mills, Carter McKenzie Mills, Austin Washburn Haley, Madaline Hastings Haley and Kellett Padraig Galvin.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 1, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel with Dr. Joe King officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until time for the service at McCommons Funeral Home in Greensboro, GA. Interment will be Monday, January 3, 2011 at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, GA.
