Doris Price Silvey Van Eck

Doris Price Silvey Van Eck of the Macedonia Community passed away on May 29, 2014 at her home at the age of 83. She was born June 1, 1930 with her twin brother Douglas to J. G. and Ethel Bell Price in the Maxeys Community. She first married Harry Silvey and had two sons, Donald and Gerald.  They later divorced and she moved north where she met and married Philip Van Eck on August 30, 1952 in Michigan.  They had two daughters, Susan and Linda.  She worked at many places the last being the City of Royal Oak and Beaumont Hospital.  When Phil retired, they moved back to Georgia in 1983 and built a home on Macedonia Road.  She was a member of Maxeys Christian Church where she was a past board secretary.  She was also a past member of the Stephens-Maxeys Homemaker Club, and Maxeys Women’s Club.  

Surviving are her husband, Phil; her two sons, Donald Silvey and Gerald (Ann) Silvey, two daughters, Susan Van Eck and Linda (Sid) Graves; sisters Joann Huff and Carolyn Dawson; brothers, James, Harvey, David and Dewitt Price; eleven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her sister, Hollis Bradley and brothers, Melvin, Douglas and infant Noel Price.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 2, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Maxeys Christian Church, 160 Church Street, Maxeys, GA 30671 with Rev. Len Bernat officiating. Interment will follow at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Paul Price, Dewitt Price, Johnny Patton, Robert Huff, Wayne Price and Jimmie Price. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time for the service, Monday at the church. The family requests that any memorials be made to Maxeys Christian Church, P. O.
