Donald Godbee

W. Donald Godbee, age 70, of Union Point, GA, died Friday, March 11, 2005 at Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. Born in Chase City, VA on July 8, 1934, he was the son of the late Wilbur Lee Godbee and Ann Sherrer Godbee. Donald attended elementary school in Virginia and graduated from Union Point High School. After high school he served in the United States Army. He started working for Stewart Oil Company which later became Lawrence Oil Company where he retired. He went into business for himself as owner of Woodville Pantry in Woodville, operator of M & G Amoco Food Mart in Union Point and owner of BP in Union Point. He was of the Baptist Faith.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Bodiford Godbee of Union Point, GA; a daughter, Dawn Godbee of Union Point, GA; five sons, Todd Godbee and Sandy of Union Point, GA, Chad Godbee of Woodville, GA, Keith Yearwood and wife Laura of Union Point, GA, Kelvin Yearwood of Union Point, GA and Kris Yearwood and Carol of Union Point, GA; a sister, Joann Martin and husband Edward "Buster" Martin of Woodville, GA; three brothers, Marion Godbee and wife Sybil of Conyers, GA, Dennis Godbee and wife Julie of Buckhead, GA and Eddie Godbee and wife Judy of Bogart, GA: five grandchildren, Niki Godbee, Erin Yearwood, Kraig Yearwood, Kim Yearwood and Ashlyn Yearwood; a great grandchild, Corey Bedsole; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Godbee and a brother, Tyree L. Godbee.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 14, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethesda Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Olds and Rev. Lem Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Bud Thornton, Richard Dingler, Steve Miller, Doug Huff, Cale Yearwood and Charlie Piland. Honorary pallbearers will be Lowell Harrison, Gary Vickers and members of Short Shirt Hunting Club. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
