Dock Harrison

Dock Harrison of Crawfordville, GA, died Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro at the age of 93.  A lifelong resident of Crawfordville, Dock was the eleventh child of twelve born to the late James Pulaski Harrison and Mittie Lee Ogletree Harrison all of whom predeceased him.  He was born on April 2, 1920.  He attended Edgewood School and Alexander Stephens Institute in Crawfordville.  He married Holly Pauline Weaver on January 1, 1950.  For forty-two years, he worked as a knitter and fixer at Union Manufacturing in Union Point, which later became Chipman Union.  He was the oldest living charter member of Bethel Baptist Church of Union Point. Dock enjoyed farming, raising farm animals, and making preserves and syrup.  

In addition to his wife of sixty-four years, Pauline Weaver Harrison of Crawfordville, GA, he is survived by his children Calvin Harrison (Judy) of Cario, GA;  Faye Harrison Brook (Bobby) of Union Point, GA; and Jimmy Harrison of Washington, GA; grandchildren: Cindy Harrison Brock of Cario, GA, David Harrison (Sherry) of Cario, GA, Paula Brook of Union Point, GA, Taylor Brook of Union Point, GA and Nicki Harrison Dawson (Brian) of Washington, GA; great-grandchildren: Erica Brock Sessions, Brandon Brock, David Harrison, Tiffany Harrison Gutierrez, Ashley Harrison Baker, and Banks Dawson; several great-great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by all of his siblings, Ethel Harrison Armour, Arnett Harrison, Neely Harrison, Leona Harrison, W.D. Harrison, James Harrison, Betty Harrison Chapman, Louise Harrison Ogletree,  Essie Harrison Rhodes, Sarah Harrison Reese, and Nina Harrison Johnson.

Funeral Services will be held, Thursday, January 23, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, 3981 Union Point Highway, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Colin Duncan, Rev. Bobby Tomlin and Rev. Thomas Burrell officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Thursday from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church.  Serving as pallbearers are Jesse Moore, Herbert Rhodes, Lee Yearwood, Brian Dawson, Taylor Brook and David Harrison.   Callaway Funeral Home, 208 N.
