Diane Higdon Womack of Greensboro, GA passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens on Monday, January 5, 2015 at the age of 68.  Born December 27, 1946 in Greene County, she was the daughter of the late Luther Adolphus Higdon and Mary Helen Massey Higdon.  Diane grew up in Greensboro, graduated from Greene County High School and attended Johnson Business School in Athens.  For a long time she worked for Moon’s Supermarket and later worked as the administrative assistant for the Department of Family and Children Services.  She also worked for Veazey Grocery.  She married Larry Keith Womack on May 27, 1995.  Known as “Mema” by her grandchildren, she dearly loved them and enjoyed keeping them.  She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

Survivors include her husband Keith Womack of Greensboro, GA; children, Robin Smith (Lane) of White Plains, GA, Dan Ellison (Lindy) of Greensboro, GA, and Michael Ellison (Allison) of Greensboro, GA; brothers, Mark Higdon (Susan) of Greensboro, GA and Dennis Higdon of Greensboro, GA; a sister, Carol Merritt (Ceils) of White Plains, GA; grandchildren, Tiffany Lindsey (Josh), Jon Moon (Candace), Delaney Ellison, Lilly Kate Ellison; great grandchildren, Colton Lindsey and Gradon Lindsey; and many other relatives and friends.
 
Funeral Services will be held, Friday, January 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at McCommons Chapel with Rev. Ed Nelson officiating.  The family will receive friends, Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 pm at McCommons Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery, 3400 Penfield Road, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Dr. Norman Waldrip officiating. Serving as pallbearers are nephews: Doug Higdon, Luke Higdon, Greg Nation, Troy Nation, Nick Brewer and Mark Lovett.  Any memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 225 Peachtree Street, NE, Suite 550, Atlanta, GA 30303 or the American Cancer Society, 1684 Barnett Shoals Road, Athens, GA 30605.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
