Delmus Conway Powell
Delmus Conway Powell, age 77, of Greensboro, GA, passed away Monday, January 16, 2017 at his residence. Delmus was born in Greene County on November 9, 1939 to the late James Arnie Powell and Thelma Ray Harper Powell. Delmus was self employed, cutting grass and a wonderful handyman He attended Walker United Methodist Church of Greensboro. He was an avid outdoorsman who derived much pleasure in fishing and watching NASCAR on t.v.
He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnne Mullis Powell, in 2005; and siblings, Claude Lee Powell, Ida Juanita Hinton, James “Red” N. Powell, Hollis Elder Powell, Eldred Moon and Ann Cassidy. He is survived by daughters, Tammy Cawthon and Debbie Thornton (Sandy), both of Woodville, GA; step daughter, Angie Walters (Ronnie Rampley) of Silver Creek; step son, Tim Sims of Greshamville; good friend, Gilda Newman of Milledgeville, GA; a sister, Maizell Merritt of Greensboro, GA; a brother, Lamar Powell of Siloam, GA; 4 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and 2 step great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Walker United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Robert Robinson officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Sandy Thornton, Cecil Powell, Dusty Merritt, Chris Merritt, Ronnie Rampley and Johnny Waters. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
