David Thomas Stephens
David Thomas Stephens, age 55, of Penfield, GA died Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Athens Regional Hospital in Athens, GA. A lifelong resident of Greene County, David was born on February 20, 1961, in Greensboro, GA, as the son of Rachel Jordan Glover and the late Thomas Franklin Stephens. He attended Greene County High School. David was the owner and operator for Stephens Construction doing land clearing and grading. Lately he worked on Yates Horse Farm riding and training horses. On December 31, 1999 he married the former Glenda Murray of Penfield. David grew up in West End Baptist Church, but more recently was attending Shiloh Baptist Church. When he wasn’t working, riding horses was his favorite past time.
In addition to his wife, Glenda Stephens of Penfield, GA, he is survived by his mother, Rachel Glover of Greensboro, GA; children, Thomas Cole Stephens and Tera Stephens; grandchildren, Sheyanne Stephens and Shailee Stephens; brother, Dennis F. Stephens; sisters, Debra Copeland, Sabrina Polites and Waverly Wiseman; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel in Greensboro with Rev. Robert Robinson officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until time for the service at McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W. Broad Street, Greensboro, GA 30642.
