Clayton Lewis Ellis, 60, of Buckhead, GA, passed away suddenly Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at his residence. Lewis was born in Greensboro, GA on September 10, 1958 to the late Clayton Ellis and Mary Beeland Ellis. He attended school at Greene County High School in Greensboro, GA. On June 22, 1979 he married the former Johnnie Lynn Lacey of White Plains, GA. At the time of his death Lewis was working for Escoe Industrial in Athens, GA as an electrical contractor. He was a member of the Lake Country Church in Buckhead, GA. Lewis was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed riding his motorcycle and watching his grandchildren play baseball games. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
In addition to his wife, Johnnie Ellis of Buckhead, GA, he is survived by a daughter, Michelle Watkins and husband Ken of Madison, GA; three sisters, Elaine Ellis and husband Don of Greensboro, GA, Mary Lou Leach and husband Gary of Greensboro, GA and Laura Yearwood and husband Keith of Union Point, GA; a brother, Billy Ellis of White Plains, GA; two grandchildren, John David Watkins and Elizabeth Watkins; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Tommy Ellis, Curtis Ellis, James Ellis and Ronnie Ellis.
Memorial Services will be held on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Lake Country Church, 2411 Reids Ferry Road, Buckhead, GA 30625 with Rev. Bill Thigpen officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday at McCommons Funeral Home.
