Claude Allen Moldenhauer
Claude Allen Moldenhauer, of Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro, GA, died Saturday, September 6, 2014, at Arbor Terrace in Athens, GA at the age of 76. Claude was born in Minneapolis, MN on April 28, 1938, to the late Arthur Carl Moldenhauer and Esther Lindenberg Moldenhauer. He was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Moldenhauer. He was fondly known as Moldy since his college days. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Business Administration and the University of Toledo with a Masters of Business Degree. He married Diane Davies, his wife of 54 years, on March 24, 1960 and together they raised two daughters and a son.
After a successful 38 year career with Kroger, he retired in 1999 as Vice President of Produce and Floral. After retirement they moved from Cincinnati, OH to Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro, GA where he had a variety of interests including golf, tennis, boating and a passion for exercising. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Greensboro. He was very active in his community serving on the University of Georgia Agriculture Board, President of the Reynolds Plantation Men's Club and Public Relations Manager for Greene County Habitat for Humanity.
In addition to his wife, Diane Moldenhauer, he is survived by his daughters, Julie M. King of Charlotte, NC and Lynda S. Hawk (Jeff) of Loveland, OH; son, Jeff Moldenhauer of Maineville, OH; sister, Wanda Templin; grandchildren, Jesse King, Travis King, Lindsay King, Justin Hawk, Kasey Hawk, Tanner Hawk and Jessica Hawk; 4 nieces; 1 nephew, and his beloved dog, Betsy.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church, South Campus, 4741 Carey Station Road, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Mike Morgan and Pastor Merry Grayson officiating. A reception will follow the service in the Fellowship Hall. There will also be a celebration of life gathering in Loveland, OH.
