Christopher Sere “Chris” Herrick, of Eatonton, GA, died Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at the age of 70. Chris was born in Columbia, SC on October 10, 1944, to Clinton Seymour Herrick and Clara Sere Herrick.  He graduated from St. Pius Catholic High School in Atlanta and attended Georgia State University.  He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force.  On June 20, 1970, he married the former Gloria Methvin, his wife of 44 years.  He enjoyed a long and successful career with Southern Bell retiring after thirty-two years.  He also worked for Geotechnical & Environmental Consultants, Inc. in Macon, GA as the Occupational Safety Engineer, where he was working at the time of his death.  After moving to Eatonton, GA from Norcross, GA, in 2000, Chris became a member of Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church.  Among his many interests, Chris liked building and working with his hands.  Over the years he served his community as Scout Master, Band Booster Member at Meadowcreek High School and Safety Officer at work.   He had a great personality and enjoyed telling jokes.  He was dearly loved and will be missed by so many.

In addition to his wife Gloria Herrick of Eatonton, GA, he is survived by his sons, Kevin Herrick (Zach) of Smyrna, GA, Michael Herrick (Barbara) of Sugar Hill, GA and Todd Herrick (Beth) of Lawrenceville, GA; brothers, Clinton Herrick of Portland, Me and Ross Herrick of Pleasant Valley, NY; grandchildren, Kyla Herrick and Gracie Herrick; other relatives and many, many friends; his beloved dog, Nikki; cat, Sunny; and also his grand dogs, Cami, Chandler, and Payton.
 
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 26, 2015, at McCommons Chapel, in Greensboro with Father Brendon Doyle officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until time for the service at McCommons Funeral Home.  The family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 1684 Barnett Shoals Road, Athens, GA  30605.
