Charles Robert White, age 81, of Greensboro, GA, died Monday, May 7, 2018 at his residence in Greensboro. He was born on November 23, 1936, in Birmingham, AL to the late Charlie White and Ocie Mae Phillips White. He married the former Nancy Norris on August 2, 1958 and they had four daughters. Bob graduated from Tarrant High School in Birmingham, AL. He proudly served his country in the Air National Guard of Alabama and the Reserve of the United States Air Force during the Berlin Crisis in 1962. Bob was a District Sales Manager for Siskin Steel and Supply Company retiring in 2002 after twenty years of service. They moved from Center Point, AL to Lithonia, GA and in 1993 moved to Lake Oconee. While living in Greensboro he was a member of Lake Oconee Community Church. He was also a member of the Lake Oconee Elks Lodge. His many interests included golfing, water skiing and wood working. He was also a lover of the great outdoors, and shared many camping, horse riding and motorcycling adventures with the family. During much of his work life, he enthusiastically supported youth career development through Junior Achievement. He admired the Boy Scouts organization and was a Scout as a young man. He loved playing and watching baseball, and was a fan of the Braves and loved watching Alabama football. Throughout his life he was a devoted husband, son, father, brother and uncle and made a lasting impact on the lives of his family and friends.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of fifty-nine years, Nancy White of Greensboro, GA; four daughters, Melinda White of Sugar Land, TX, Susan White of Winona, MN, Elizabeth Nicholson (Chris) of Cumming, GA and Shannon Croft of Roswell, GA; siblings, Larry White of Scottsboro, AL and Linda Halladay (David) of Oneonta, AL; seven grandchildren, Jillian, Hunter, Norris, Keenan, Kristen, Julien and Alexis; other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May, 19, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. with Dr. David Key and Rev. Becky Matheny officiating. A reception will follow the service in the historic Hall-Thomas house, 109 W. Broad Street, Greensboro, GA 30642.
