Charles Julian Davison, Jr., of Woodville, GA, died Thursday, August 24, 2017 at his residence. Most of his life was spent in Woodville. He was born on June 27, 1929 in Opelika, AL, the son of the late Charles Julian Davison, Sr. and Coraleta McWhorter Davison. He attended school in Woodville and was a graduate of Union Point High School and a graduate of the University of Georgia with a Business Degree and was a member of Chi Phi Fraternity. During the Korean War, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Julian was involved in Woodville public service as Mayor or city council member for a span of 54 years. He was self employed in the timber management business. He was a member of the Woodville Baptist Church. Mr. Davison was a Mason at the Chapell Lodge #511 of Union Point. He was also a founding member of the Greene County Country Club.
Julian enjoyed golfing, boating and travel. He loved listening to his favorite music and driving his newest car. Throughout his life, he maintained an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and enjoyed studying mathmatics, physics, culture and history. He was an early adopter of technology and loved sharing his new gadgets and systems. Above all, Julian deeply loved his family, his pets and was a loyal and devoted friend.
He is survived by a son John Hill O’Neal, Sr. and his wife Karen of Wauchula, FL; grandsons, John Hill O’Neal, Jr. and his wife Caroline of Madison, GA and Bobby O’Neal of Sebrina, FL; granddaughters, Katie O’Neal-Jackson and her husband Steve of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; great grandchildren, Lyda O’Neal, Davison O’Neal, Julia O’Neal and Merrill Lash; and a wide circle of friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hallie Cook Davison; and a brother, Robert McWhorter “Mac” Davison.
Graveside Services will be held Monday, August 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Woodville Cemetery, 1191 Peachtree Avenue E., Woodville, GA 30669 with Dr. Lee Smith officiating. A reception will follow the service at the School House. Serving as pallbearers are John Hill O’Neal, Jr., John Sisson, Mickey Sisson, Steve Jackson, James Hunt, Russell Brock and Kevin Smith. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 27, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Callaway Funeral Home in Union Point. Callaway Funeral Home, 208 N.
