Charles Aaron Chappell, age 72, of Greensboro, Georgia, died Sunday, March 18, 2012 at St. Mary''s Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro. A lifelong resident of Greene County, Charles was born July 12, 1939 to the late Charles Leroy "Roy" Chappell and Zadelle Edmonds Chappell. He attended Greensboro High School and then enlisted in the United States Army serving his country during the Cuban Crisis and the Berlin Crisis. He married the former Rita Merritt of Greensboro who preceded him in death. Charles was the owner and operator of Chappell Trucking. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and working on trucks. He was also an avid bird hunter.
He is survived by a brother, Harold Chappell of Byron, GA; a niece, Judy Wellman and husband Rob of Kathlene, GA; a nephew, Jason Chappell and wife Kelly of Warner Robins, GA; a great niece and nephew, Katelyn Chappell and Cody Chappell; and a very good friend, Ann Worthen Hunt of Union Point, GA; and many other friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at McCommons Chapel with Rev. Wayne Usry officiating. Interment will follow at Greenview Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Greensboro, GA 30642. Serving as pallbearers are Kenny Silvey, Doug Askew, Keith James, Larry Cannon, Darrell Padgett and Tim Davison.
