Charles Wover Askew, age 84, of Greensboro, GA died Thursday, April 14, 2005 at his residence. A lifelong resident of Greene County he was born December 15, 1920 to the late Edward Hale Askew and Mary Park Askew. He was the owner and operator of a dairy farm and was a member of Walker United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Patrick Askew of Greensboro, GA; two daughters, Brenda Askew of Greensboro, GA and Christine Hallman of Greensboro, GA; two sons, Gene Askew and wife Nita of Eatonton, GA and Mike Askew of Greensboro, GA; a brother, Thurston Askew of Greensboro, GA; four grandchildren, Shannon Askew, Trisha Michelle Shelnutt, Jonathan Askew and Amy Hallman; one great grandchild, Rodney Shelnutt; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Edward Askew and a granddaughter, Crystal Marie Thigpen.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 15, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at Walker United Methodist Church with Rev. Ferris Hardin officiating. Interment will follow at Greenview Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Raymond Askew, Allen Askew, Horace Askew, Stanley Roberts, Ray Duvall and Adair Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Copelan, Billy Copelan, Keith McElroy and Jimmy Moore. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday night at the funeral home.
