Catherine "Betty" (McKinnon) Willey

Catherine Elizabeth "Betty" Willey went to heaven Sunday, July 2, 2017.  She was born in Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia Canada on March 1, 1941.  Her late parents Joseph B & Ida McKinnon raised her and her sister Gail MacKinnon (Roger) and (late) brother C. Richard McKinnon in Andover and Lawrence, MA where they attended St. Patrick's Catholic Schools.

"Betty", as she was preferred to be called and nicknamed by her favorite Grandmother Deveaux-Gracie, had many jobs in her lifetime but always said her dream job was to ‘be a Mom’.

She raised her children in Derry, NH by way of Montreal Quebec, Canada. Then in her later years she lived seasonally in Clam Harbour, NS Canada and Union Point, GA with the love of her life George A. Willey.  She worked as a cook at Ingles deli in Greensboro and was also a well known Quilter.

Betty was predeceased by a son Thomas J. Landers in 1978 and her husband George A. Willey in 1995. She leaves behind two daughters, Tammis Johnson (Bobby), Tonya Coile (late Kerry Joe); a son Michael Joaquin; and grandchildren, Tara Coile (Billy), Tarsha Brown (Wayne), Emily Joaquin, Greg Johnson (Karen) & Sarah Johnson; her great grandchildren, Cami Brown, Zoe Bryant & Evan Johnson; and many stepchildren with her late husband. Also, she will be greatly missed by her close friends Carolyn Dawson & Angela Bryant.

A memorial service, followed by a mercy meal, will be held at the Union Point Community Center, 707 Hart Avenue,  Union Point Georgia 30669 on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 5:00 pm. All are welcome to join us to celebrate our extraordinary mother and friend.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mary's Home & Hospice or to the GA Vascular Society.
