Catherine Gammon Hoyle, age 90, of Eatonton, GA, died Saturday, April 2, 2016 at her home. Born May 22, 1925 in Pelham, NC, she was the youngest of fourteen children born to the late Walter Shepard Gammon and Desie Strader Gammon. She graduated from Schoolfield High School in Danville, VA. On September 16, 1945, she married Alfred McGrady Hoyle, Sr. in Burlington, NC. She worked as the Payroll Supervisor at Western Electric which later became Lucent Technologies retiring in 1974 after thirty years. Twelve years ago they moved to Eatonton, Georgia from Palm Coast, FL to be closer to their son and his family who live in Greensboro, GA. She was active in sports and enjoyed tennis, bowling and softball. She was a member of Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church in Eatonton.
In addition to her husband, Alfred McGrady Hoyle, Sr. who passed away March 13, 2008, she was preceded in death by siblings: Della Cook, Florence Doby, Louise Wells, Lillian Coleman, Walter Gammon, Oscar Gammon, Andrew Gammon and six siblings who died in infancy. She is survived by a son, Alfred McGrady Hoyle, Jr. and his wife Connie of Greensboro, GA; two grandchildren, Scott Hoyle of Duluth, GA and Kelly Hoyle of Madison GA; great grandchildren, Noah Goran, Elijah Hoyle, Matthew Fuller and Mark Fuller.
Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church in Eatonton, GA with Rev. Sam Smith officiating. Inurnment will follow at Walker Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until time for the service at Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church, 113 Scott Road, Eatonton, GA 31024. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
