Carmen Andrews Obituary

Carmen Nell Barham Andrews

Carmen Nell Barham Andrews, age 83, of Granbury, Texas, died Sunday, October 5, 2014, at her daughter’s residence in Crawfordville, Georgia.  She was born in Cleburne, Texas on May 28, 1931 to the late Nicholas Carmen Barham and Ruby Nell Keirsy Barham.  She graduated from Cleburne High School in Cleburne, Texas.  On July 31, 1953 she married Carl Andrews and they moved to Granbury, Texas.  She lived on a farm, where they raised horses, cattle and numerous other breeds of livestock.  Through the years, she held several jobs in various restaurants, but her true love was being on the ranch, tending the livestock, and raising her children.  In her younger years, she was a racehorse jockey and participated in rodeos as a barrel racer.  She volunteered as a 4-H Leader and thoroughly enjoyed working with the young people helping with their various projects and showing their livestock.  Later in life, her passion was for volunteering at Joseph’s Locker in Granbury, where she worked with and helped the less fortunate in the area.  She also had a select group of ladies that she delighted in going to various activities with each week.  Carmen was a member of Lake Granbury Christian Temple.  She loved her family and friends with all of her heart.  She was truly a people person!

In addition to her husband, Carl Andrews who passed away in March of 2001, she was preceded in death by her brother Morris and his wife Virginia and her step grandson, Robert.  She is survived by her daughter, Vickey Rhodes and husband Joey of Crawfordville, Georgia; her son, Rickey Andrews and wife Madonna of Granbury, Texas; a brother, Robert Winston “Wimpy” Barham and wife Sandy of Cleburne, Texas; two granddaughters, Hannah and Emily Rhodes of Crawfordville, GA.
