Carlos Sumner, Sr

Elzie Carlos Sumner, Sr., age 77, of Greensboro, GA, died on Thursday, November 26, 2009 at Rockdale Medical Center in Conyers, GA. Son of the late Walter E. Sumner and Winnie Mae Jordan Sumner, Carlos was born on May 14, 1932 in Tift County. He graduated from Chula High School and attended Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College (ABAC). During his working career he was employed by Kimberly Clark, Georgia Kraft, Dairymen Incorporated and Firestone. His wife, Patty Nell Doss Sumner, preceded him in death in June of 1997. He was a member of the American Legion in Stockbridge, GA.

Carlos is survived by two daughters, Anna Sumner Hopkins and husband Wayne of Union Point, GA and Gayle Sumner MacAllister and husband John of Conyers, GA; a son, Carl Sumner, Jr. and wife Cindy of Greensboro, GA; two brothers, Harold Sumner of Chula, GA and Bob Sumner of Ashburn, GA; seven grandchildren, Beth Sellers Patrick and husband Jeff, Lindsay Sumner, Clark MacAllister, Cole Sumner, and wife Loni, Claire MacAllister, Rebecca Sumner and Spencer Sumner; two great grandchildren, Heather Patrick and Breanna Patrick; and a number of other friends and relatives.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel with Rev. Robert Robinson officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at McCommons Funeral Home.
