Carl Amos Evans, Sr., age 63, of Union Point, Georgia, died Wednesday, October 7, 2009. Born in Hamilton County, TN on April 30, 1946, he was the son of the late Amos Evans and Beatrice Smith. Carl graduated from Howard High School in Chattanooga, TN and Floyd Junior College in Rome, GA and later received his Masters in Social Work from the University of Georgia. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Carl was the owner and director of Northwest Georgia Diversified Services, Inc. in Winder, GA. Carl was an unbelievable history buff, who loved hunting and fishing. He was also a mentor at Greensboro Elementary School, where he was known as the "Math Man". Since 2004 he had lived in Union Point and before that he lived in Athens. Mr. Evans was of the Baptist Faith.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Pointer Evans of Union Point, GA; a daughter, Samantha Weston of Chattanooga, TN; two sons, Carl Evans, Jr. of Chattanooga, TN and Travis Evans of Alabama; four sisters; two brothers; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. at New Springfield Baptist Church in Siloam with Rev. Roi Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until time for the service Wednesday afternoon at New Springfield Baptist Church. Callaway Funeral Home, 208 N.
