Calvin Fitzpatrick, age 86, of Douglasville, GA passed away Monday, November 26, 2012 at Tranquility Hospice in Austell, GA. A native of Penfield, GA, Mr. Fitzpatrick was the son of the late E. Calvin Fitzpatrick, Sr. and Blanche Wilson Fitzpatrick, Greene County, GA. He was born January 16, 1926 and graduated from Greensboro High School in 1944 and Draughan Business College in Savannah, GA in 1948. Calvin and Sue Finch were married on June 24, 1956 in Atlanta, GA and recently celebrated their 56th anniversary. He was an Accountant at Coleman-Meadows-Pate Drug Company in Macon, GA retiring on August 2, 1985 after 33 years. He was an active member of Pineforest Baptist Church, including Hudson Tabor Sunday School Class and C.O.D. (Christians on Duty). Calvin had many interests, but especially enjoyed old cars, hunting, fishing, bird watching and traveling to the mountains. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed Braves baseball. He was a loving, gentle, and generous person who never complained. He had a quick smile for everyone and enjoyed sharing funny memories with his grandsons. In July of 2011, Mr. and Mrs. Fitzpatrick moved from Macon to Douglasville, GA to be close to their son and family.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Sue Finch Fitzpatrick, of Douglasville, GA; son, Walt Fitzpatrick (Donna) of Douglasville, GA; sister, Katherine Harr of Suwanee, GA; two grandsons, Justin Fitzpatrick and Kevin Fitzpatrick; a great grandson, Kamron Fitzpatrick; and a number of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Tolbert.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 30, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel with Dr. Norm Yukers officiating. Interment will follow in Greenview Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Greensboro, GA 30642. Serving as pallbearers are Carl Miller, Jimmy English, John Colclough, Loren Leach, Justin Fitzpatrick, Kevin Fitzpatrick, Mike Neville, Barry Tolbert and David Boswell. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday prior to the service at McCommons Funeral Home.
