Burless Vernie “Mac” McKinney, Jr., age 65, of Greensboro, GA passed away on Monday, November 30, 2015 at his residence. Mac was born December 10, 1949 in Killarney, WV to the late Burless Vernie McKinney, Sr. and Rebecca Ruth Black McKinney. He was an independent contractor doing construction, heating and air, and refrigeration. For several years he worked for Lusk Architects and Associates in Atlanta as a superintendent and master carpenter and retired in 2001. He moved from Decatur, GA to Greene County in 1987 and married Anthea Maillis on January 25, 1988. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, especially rabbits, and fishing. Because of his love for the outdoors, he was given the nickname of “Mr. Camo” by his friends. He was of the Presbyterian faith.
He is survived by his wife Anthea Maillis McKinney of Greensboro, GA; a brother, Mickey Smallwood of Austell, GA and many friends.
Memorial Services will be held Friday, December 4, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. at McCommons Chapel with Rev. Dr. James Choomack officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 p.m. until time for the service at the funeral home.
