Obituary

Bonnie Louise McWhorter Duvall of the Greshamville Community, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was 61. A lifelong resident of Greensboro, she was born November 4, 1958 to the late Charlotte Maureen Culberson McWhorter and James Hamilton "Hamp" McWhorter.  She graduated from Nathanael Greene Academy in 1976 and was a graduate of the University of Georgia.  On August 12, 1979, she married Vincent Mearl “Zippy” Duvall, Sr.  Bonnie worked with her husband on the family farm where they raised their four children.  She was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church in Greshamville.  She was a member of the Greene County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee and enjoyed accompanying her husband, Zippy, on trips representing Farm Bureau across the country.  She was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan and loved all sports, but none more than Georgia Football. Bonnie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who supported her family in all things.

Survivors include her husband of forty years, Vincent Mearl “Zippy” Duvall, Sr. of the Greshamville Community; children, Lt. Colonel Vincent Mearl “Vince” Duvall, Jr. (Erin) of Acworth, GA, Cora “Corrie” Terry (Jared) of Huntsville, AL, Zeb Duvall (Katie) of Buckhead, GA, and Zellie Duvall of Washington, DC; grandchildren, Ava Duvall, Vincent Mearl “Tripp” Duvall III, Savannah Duvall, Jocee Terry, and Gus Terry; sister, Hannah Baynes (Scott) of Greensboro, GA; a host of other relatives and many friends.  In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Betty Carr Dickens McWhorter.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 23, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church South Campus, 4741 Carey Station Road, Greensboro, GA with Rev. Mike Pritchett and Rev. Harold Duvall officiating.  Graveside service will follow in the Duvall Family Cemetery, 1255 Bill Duvall Road, Greensboro, GA  30642.  The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 22, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at McCommons Funeral Home and Thursday beginning at 1:00 p.m. until time for the service at the church.  Serving as pallbearers are Scott Baynes, Jackie Copelan, Wynn Copelan, Jerry Duvall, Jeffrey Harvey, Jorge Romero, Ethan Slaughter, and Heath Slaughter.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jeb Butcher, Jason Crook, Major Bryan Fanning, Josh Hurst, Jordan Knowles, Robby McDyre, and Kevin Morrison.  A memorial service will be held at a later date at the American Farm Bureau Federation in Washington, DC.  The family requests that donations can be made to Nathanael Greene Academy, P.
