Bobby Lamar Obituary

Robert Eugene “Bobby” Lamar, age 61, of Union Point, GA died Monday, May 24, 2010 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens, GA. Born in Washington, Georgia on October 20, 1948, he was the son of the late Raymond Lamar and Helen Stephens Lamar. Bobby graduated from Wilkes County High School. On June 28, 1969, he married the former Geraldine Strozier of Union Point, GA. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1970 until 1973. For over twenty years he worked for Chipman Union in shipping. At the time of his death, he was working for the City of Union Point as a utility worker, where he began in 2002. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Union Point. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed fishing. Bobby is survived by his wife Geraldine Lamar of Union Point, GA; a daughter, Holly Lynne Young and husband Bryan of Greensboro, GA; a brother, Sammy Lamar and wife Judy of Washington, GA; one grandchild, Bradley Vandiver; and a number of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Amy Lamar; and a son, Robert Jason Lamar. Graveside Services will be held, Thursday, May 27, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, 3963 Union Point Highway, Union Point, GA 30669 with Rev. Colin Duncan officiating. Serving as pallbearers are his coworkers from the City of Union Point: David Stephens, Joey Laux, Wilbur Rhodes, Ben Brake, Troy Shelton, Barry Meadows, Dolphin Gouch and Gene Lindsey. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday night at Callaway Funeral Home. Callaway Funeral Home, 208 N.
