Bobby Harris Obituary

Bobby Joe Harris, age 73, of Eatonton, Georgia, died on Thursday, August 24, 2006 at Athens Regional Medical Center. Son of the late Arline Harris and Myrtle Williams Harris, Bobby was born on October 26, 1932, in Ben Hill County, Georgia. He graduated from Fitzgerald High School in 1952 and attended the University of Georgia Extension in Atlanta which is now Georgia State University. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1954 until 1956. He was a Production Supervisor with Nabisco in Atlanta, Chicago and St. Louis for thirty-eight years. After retiring in 1989 he continued as a consultant for five more years. They have lived in Eatonton since July of 1991.

Bobby is survived by his wife, Sudie Hall Harris, of Eatonton, GA; three sons, Stanley Harris and wife Carole of Memphis, TN, Mercer Harris of Bethlehem, GA and Douglas Harris and wife Donna of Suwanee, GA; three sisters, Sue East of Dublin, GA, Faye Burns of Lithonia, GA and Joyce Williams of Conyers, GA; two brothers, James Harris of Fitzgerald, GA and Don Harris of Marietta, GA; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Harris, Brendon Harris, Evelyn Harris, Patricia Harris, Sarah Harris and Chandler Harris; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Harris.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 28, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at McCommons Chapel with Rev. Bill Kitchen and Hugh Harris officiating. Graveside Services will be at 1:30 p.m. at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville, GA. Serving as pallbearers are Douglas Harris, Mercer Harris, Stanley Harris, Eric Harris, Robert "Bubba" East Jr. and Brendon Harris. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday night and from 10:00 a.m. until time for the service on Monday at the funeral home.
